A glass tile backsplash not only adds beauty to your kitchen but functionality as well. These tiles can be acquired in many different color schemes to match any decor you have in mind. They are easy to install and can be purchased at a local home center. They are economical to purchase while giving your kitchen a unique look all it's own.

These backsplashes also serve function as well by keeping water and grease from running down behind the counter. If these were not installed, mold could eventually build up and could affect the health of the people living in the house. Glass in non porous so it will not soak up water and is resistant to mold and stain. It is much easier to clean than other type of splashes.

Installing a glass tile backsplash can be done by the average home owner by doing a little research and taking their time. A tile saw is required to cut the glass tiles which will be the biggest piece of equipment needed. The edges of the tiles need sanded however they will probably already come that way. Lay your pattern out as you want it on a counter or the floor, apply a special glue, and stick each tile in place. Make sure the wall is free of dirt and grease before you begin.

After the tile sets for a full day, grout needs to be applied between the cracks, Have a wet sponge to clean up the excess as you apply it. Once everything is done and dry, wash the splash and you are done. This could even lead to part time work doing this for neighbors once they have seen the job once it is done.

Another advantage of using glass as a backsplash is that light reflects off of the glass, making the kitchen seem lighter and even roomier. It is also very durable and will last for many years. Make sure too choose a good color as this will need to match any color schemes of the kitchen in the future. Recycled glass tile can even be used.
